Vocalise and Youth Choir

Under the skilled guidance and encouragement of their talented Musical Director Alison North MBE, ably supported by accompanist Jane Robertson, the Youth Choirs’ musical repertoire is wide and varied from unaccompanied part singing to songs from musicals. The standard of singing and music-making continues to impress and delight audiences.

The Choirs regularly perform in the local area and beyond; they rehearse on Wednesday evenings in term-time at Lindley Methodist Church.

Vocalise is an ensemble of upper voices with singers from both sections of the choir.
The Youth Choir appeared on the CBBC programme “Creeped Out” which aired in November 2017 and performed with the Huddersfield Choral Society in Britten’s War Requiem and Tarik O’Regan’s ‘A Celestial Map of the Sky’.

Vocalise were awarded first place in the Huddersfield Mrs Sunderland Festival Young People’s Choir class (21 years and under) in 2022, gaining an ‘outstanding’ grade. Comments from the adjudicator included ‘all the musical complexities achieved with ease’, ‘you don’t compromise on quality’, ‘you sing with a real focus’ and ‘you allow us to reflect and this is the power of music’.
